Physio Led Movement and Strengthening Group

YOUR HEALTH ROOTS are pleased to announce a new, innovative 6 week course – An introduction to resistance training.

Resistance (strength) training is a vital component in us ageing well and we are proud to announce a physio-led introductory course into mobility and strength training.

We already have plenty of evidence, of course, that weight training can help us age well. By our early 40s, most of us are losing muscle mass, at a rate of about 5 percent a decade, which could mean we move toward frailty and dependence in later years. However, studies show, that older people who lift weights can slow or reverse that descent. In multiple experiments, older people who start to lift weights typically gain muscle mass and strength, as well as better mobility, mental sharpness and metabolic health. Strength training has also been shown to improve joint health, daily function and help manage long-term conditions such as osteoarthritis, diabetes amongst many others.

Your Health Roots are launching an exciting 6 week programme for anyone interested in mobility and strength training. This is an introductory course for people who are interested in strength training but who have not pursued it. You may never have lifted weights or be returning from an injury or have daily aches and pains and are unsure what type of exercise is for you. This can be an ideal pathway into working with a personal trainer and give you the confidence to start lifting weights.
