Waterside's Environmental Plan

At the Waterside we take our commitment to the environment very seriously, as you may or may not know we have a green plan in place which we are working towards to reduce our carbon footprint. Each month I send out an environmental summary to the business to communicate our actions and previous months results. Below is a brief summary of January’s report:

Waste

Please click here to see our waste report from our waste collector, the good news is our waste is 100% diverted from landfill which means our waste is 100% recycled.

Electrical Usage

Last year we upgraded our CHP operations and as such, I am pleased to report our electric consumption has decreased from what we import from the grid and we are now harvesting our pool heat from the units to bring down our Co2 emissions from our boilers. The upgraded CHP’s are a cleaner way to generate electric and more energy efficient than using our boilers to provide heating. If you would like to see how the units work and how they operate then please do not hesitate to ask.

Water Usage

We have seen a slight increase in water usage during the month of January but this is normal at this time of year. It’s also an area where we can really reduce our usage by turning off taps and showers and by reporting any faulty toilets and taps to a member of staff.

Every member of our team at the Waterside is now challenged to consider how we can reduce our impact on the environment, whether that is through local purchasing to reduce food miles or through initiatives to reduce waste. We now see a reduction of our carbon footprint as not an opportunity, but as an essential driver for the future of our business.  If you have any ideas then please let me know.
